SHAN TREK WITH HOME STAY/LOCAL MONESTARY – I

Day1 : Pindaya- Me Ne Taung Trek                                                                                                          (L,D)

After breakfast at hotel, set off on foot for a two hour trek to Sikya Inn village. En route, pass through Htut Ni village inhabited by the hill tribe Danu, a name derived from the word ‘Donke’ which means ‘brave archers’. The scenery along the way is stunning and features panoramic views of the Shan Mountain ranges and valley.

Continue to Menetaung village through Lin Lay Inn village (2 ½ hour trek), where hill tribe Pa-o resides. The Pa-o are descendents of Tibeto-Burman stock, are very religious and are noted for their traditional dress- both men and women wear all black, however the women wear brightly colored turbans. The majority are farmers and their main cash crop is Sebesten tree leaves, which are used for making Cheroot cigars.

Lunch at Monastery in Menetaung village, your stopping point for today’s trek.

After lunch, there is plenty of time to visit the tea and orange plantations in the village as opportunities to interact with the locals and learn more about their culture and tradition.

Dinner will be served in a village house and then it will be time to settle in to your homestay or at a monastery for theevening.(we will provide mosquito net, blanket and pillow)

Overnight at monastery or local house

Day2: Me Ne Taung – Pindaya                                                                                                                   (B,L)

Early this morning, after breakfast, your journey begins with a downhill trek to Pinsein Inn village (1 hour trek) and then, proceeds to Taung Baw Gyi village (1 hour trek). Along the way, you will encounter friendly local people and see examples of organic farming in Shan State. The final 1.5 hours of the trek takes you  toPindaya where lunch is waiting at a local restaurant.
